Suella Braverman, you're invited!

Suella Braverman, you're invited!

In response to recent comments from the Home Secretary in regards to homelessness, we have issued an open invitation to Suella Braverman to attend one of our workshops.

Please read on for our full response.

Dear Suella Braverman,

We're writing to extend an open invitation to you on behalf of Pivot, a passionate social enterprise dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in the United Kingdom. We have been closely following your recent comments on homelessness being perceived as a "lifestyle choice."

While we understand the complexities of addressing homelessness, we believe that this assertion is misinformed and overlooks the underlying factors contributing to homelessness in our society. In light of this, we would like to extend an invitation to you to visit us and participate in one of our workshops.

Our workshops are uniquely led by Makers who are currently living in temporary accommodation and have experienced homelessness first hand. These individuals can provide valuable insights into their experiences and the systemic challenges they face on a daily basis.

We believe that spending time with our Makers will help shed light on the realities of homelessness and dispel the notion that it is a lifestyle choice. Our aim is to foster understanding, empathy and informed decision-making when it comes to addressing homelessness in the UK.

We believe that your presence at a workshop will provide you with an understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness. It would be an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and witness the determination and resilience of our Makers, plus you'll get to make your own jewellery too!

Please consider this invitation as an opportunity to bridge the gap between perception and reality when it comes to homelessness. We look forward to your positive response and the chance to work together toward a more compassionate and effective approach to  homelessness in the UK.

Yours sincerely,

Alice, Sabella, Bella, Jason, Makbule and our team of Makers.
